ally smash drama

Ally was also a top ranked Project M player, ranked 37th on PMRank 2016. The other stuff is a problem, but that is the real issue that is worth discussing. Not claiming the kill myself Ally thing is okay but some people really think that when they are in a dark place. https://twitter.com/allyornotally/status/972667578823970818. It seems like she confided in Larry about his behavior and felt betrayed that he’d tell Ally, but she admits they’ve only been good friends since what, October? The fact that the smash community is overwhelmingly male and many of us have little to no experience with women as close friends is really showing with this incident. I usually support someone coming forward about abuse, but there’s almost nothing here, and a lot of framing of that nothing to try to paint two big community figures in a bad light. Her statements aren't 100% standard for a victim, but they also aren't exactly unusual. The real problem of what Larry allegedly did was inform Ally that she was trying to get help for it.

You don't tell the abuser until you know that the victim is safe. https://www.allyornotally.com/single-post/2018/03/12/WhoWhat-IsWas-Team-Ally. This article in particular does not go into any of the later mentioned harassment allegations, rather, it covers the author's experience as the publicity worker for Team Ally.
I don’t know, from reading this it seems like Larry was just letting his friend know his ex-girlfriend was distressed enough about his behavior to reach out to someone else. I cannot prove this, and the allegations may in fact be true, but the way this has been presented - especially the nature of the first article and a lack of greater context or evidence - makes me really doubtful.

I’d assume Ally and Larry have been closer friends for longer, though I could be wrong. We're still working on new, clearer rules for articles such as these and their place on r/smashbros.
The number one priority is ensuring safety, judging guilt happens after someone is safe. Don’t think it’s a reputation, gender, or top player thing.

A community that's more diverse, gender wise, would likely have more people who have experience in situations like this, and fewer people would be jumping to conclusions rather than acknowledging that they don't know and acting with the assumption that either person could be correct. We would like to show you a description here but the site won’t allow us. As for gender and what not, it is related, but not directly. I would understand not wanting to write about her abuse, but it doesn't seem to be that considering she wrote this. I'm not really sure what that had to do with anything else in the post.

That sucks for her so much. Larry should have said that he couldn't help, or something along those lines. Additionally, informing a potential abuser that the victim is reaching out for help puts the victim in a much more dangerous position, as an abuser is likely to lash out against them. He said that he didn't want to "get involved," tried to claim that he didn't actually "KNOW" that the abuse was occurring (even though I provided him with proof beforehand and tons more afterwards), then made an excuse for my abuser and questioned why I would even put myself in the abusive situation (victim blaming) and told me that he was not going to speak about the subject anymore. He is ranked as the 15th best Wii U player of all time on the PGR100. This isn't even accurate based on the convo provided since he initially appeared to identify with what she was saying. In Wii U he was considered one of the best Bayonetta mains in the world along with Tweek, Salem, and Mistake. https://twitter.com/allyornotally/status/974329450585354245, https://twitter.com/allyornotally/status/974332883270848513, the larry ones do not lend her credibility at all. If Ally did not compete, there would be no platform to merchandise off of. Same impression I got. Looks like you're using new Reddit on an old browser. I'm concerned that this is personal drama and that this person has gone out of their way to try and smear people's names. B: Demonstrate Larry was neglectful in assisting this person. This excuses nothing if the allegations are true, mind you, but this comes off more as a disgruntled former worker complaining about their boss.

The DMs with Ally have no context, and with his dry personality, it’s hard to tell the real meaning or intent. I could be wrong on this.

Ally had been a competitive Smash player since 2015 and was widely considered to be one of the best Wii U competitors at the height of the game’s popularity. If she's uncomfortable sharing it, or its nothing something she's legally allowed to share (because I'm assuming she's in contact with a lawyer or something of the like), then why mention it in such length or possibly explain why you can't? Even if you have trouble believing the potential victim's claims, you shouldn't risk their safety on your hunch. This blog should be focused on Ally if there's harassment going on. Anala and I do 99.8% of the work, but we do so behind the curtains. Press question mark to learn the rest of the keyboard shortcuts. Yeah, the drugs and alcohol part was the strangest to me. In fact, he isn’t named once, while Larry is. My instincts on claims levied against people in this community depend on the circumstances and evidence.

Because women are, in general, more likely to be abused (men are abused as well, but statistically it's less often), this means that a lot of smash players don't know much about how this stuff works. If Ally did not compete, ... MacD's false accuser and the really roundabaout-teenage twitter drama type incident that went … this article seems like it should be about ally, not larry. All of that being said, I hope this girl is okay, if everything she is saying is true that's a terrible thing to have to go through and you have nothing but sympathy from me. This is where I got really, really, really skeptical of the story. There is a screenshot that doesn't necessarily show abuse, and other than that the offended party's interpretation of everything, without any specifics about what the original abuse actually was. That's underhanded, especially since the alleged abuse from Ally isn't shown and hardly mentioned. Zack "CaptainZack" Lauth is an Ultimate Bayonetta, Daisy, and Peach player, and former Wii U Bayonetta player, from Louisiana, USA. ...However, they lead with an article that reads as very petty, and then follow it up with undetailed allegations of harassment with no proof of any kind despite claiming to have it. but maybe i’m misunderstanding. Press question mark to learn the rest of the keyboard shortcuts. I don't like doubting people who claim sexual assault and things of the like, thats a slippery slope and it can hurt the victim. This person in particular alludes to alleged harassment in the article linked in the OP and had alluded to the contents of the OP's article during March, but none of this is related in this article linked here. Not to mention all the passive aggressiveness. Yeah but ppl said that every other time too. i don’t mean to dismiss the article but victim-blaming is not a crime however gross it may be. Why? Yeah, it sounds like something happened between Ally and her, but this article doesn't add up at all. Not only that but claiming vaugly that Ally is the abuser but trying to go after Larry HARD seems kind of backwards when from the article you guys didn't really seem like close friends and in reality he didn't do anything illegal or even that insane when put in an unfamiliar situation. This person has been alluding to this on twitter for about two weeks apparently and has screenshot evidence that incriminates nobody, but doesn't have the pictures that. Then, Larry is dragged into this when the comment he made in that photo seemed entirely reasonable. Hope this gets resolved soon. I get that she thought Larry was completely in her corner, so her feelings were hurt. This is so incredibly vague that it almost feels like a hit-piece. Despite claiming to have tons of proof we only see a couple of screen shots which could be taken out of context. Maybe something did happen, but if it did there is not enough in this article to form an opinion on it. Ultimate on the Nintendo Switch, a GameFAQs message board topic titled "CaptainZack admits to forcing Ally to throw tournament matches" - Page 4. What he did was an honest mistake, but it was still a serious one that potentially put her in greater danger. I've had mostly female friends my entire life, and I've had more than one close friend who has been the victim of an abusive relationships, so I'm going to try to clear up some misconceptions I'm seeing. We've decided to leave this post up, but will be monitoring the comments VERY closely to make sure nothing gets out of hand. I'm not saying whether or not this is accurate, but I think that the Smash Community needs to remember that it's overwhelmingly dominated by men, many of which have minimal experience with women's issues and many likely have never known someone who's a victim. Welcome to Reddit's finest Smash Bros community! But don't put out a fucking hit piece on the guy for not living up to your expectations after putting him in an awkward situation. Be civil and cool everyone. I've had friends in abusive relationships. In 2019, CaptainZack was handed a five-year ban from all Smash competitions following an incident with Ally, after it was revealed they were involved in an illegal relationship while he was a minor, forcing Ally to throw matches as a punishment for feeling manipulated.

Because the author provides nothing to back up the idea Larry failed her in some way, you could easily interpret this as Larry not believing her story because he has information we are not privy to that the author has chosen to withhold that might put a hole in her story. Ally had most recently finished third at the Smash Ultimate tournament at CEO, losing to Tyler “Marss” Martins in the Losers Finals. So, my first issue - probably the least relevant, but it provides intent - is that in this particular article, the person digs a significant amount at Ally over him not participating enough as part of the publicity management.

BarnardsLoop with the top tier response as usual. The article focuses on Larry, a bystander who said he didn't want to get involved since he'd be biased.

It especially got strange when she started talking about things this kind of abuse can make people do, like turn to drugs and alcohol. Cookies help us deliver our Services.
