We located 17 miles South on hwy 124 from Winnie, 28 miles East from Galveston Ferry on hwy 87. Camp site is suitable for: boat based camping. Nearby attractions include Anahuac National Wildlife Refuge (4.8 miles), Smith Oaks Bird Sanctuary (0.7 miles), and Boy Scouts Wood Sanctuary (0.2 miles). The office sent a couple to our door who told us we were in there site, also the office told them vagrants pulled in the campground all the time. Be careful here, as the sign pointing to the campground isn't until AFTER the turn. Set in the foothills of the Blue Ridge Mountains, the Kings Mountain Hiking Trail is a 16-mile trek through the state park. We would stay here again. The so called RV Park signs are very small and crowded on the sign post with a bunch of other items. All and all, one of my favorite out of the way places to camp out.. Good – the sites are huge, and flat, with good water pressure, a clean bath house with huge showers and very good WiFi service. Each site has a small mailbox type box with the key to your utilities in it. When you call to make reservations they tell you to call the day you're arriving or the day before if arriving on a Sun or holiday.
