Divine fire My most treasured memories of my time at the National Ballet Academy were the occasions I was allowed to take part in productions by the Dutch National Ballet. The higher vocational phase thereby forms the culmination of an intensive study course and a launch pad towards a professional dance career. Following in the footsteps of the Dutch National Ballet's original three ‘Vans’ and their 1975 co-creation Collective Symphony , Beethoven’s ballet will be recreated by a trio of rising young choreographers: Wubkje Kuindersma, Ernst Meisner and Remi Wörtmeyer. The orchestra masters a rich repertoire, which includes the crown jewels of ballet history such as Tchaikovsky’s Nutcracker, Stravinsky’s Sacre du Printemps and Prokofiev’s Romeo and Juliet.
Starting from class 1 pupils participate in major productions by Dutch National Ballet, including the Nutcracker (in which the children play a key role), The Sleeping Beauty, Romeo and Juliet, Swan Lake and Giselle. – Hans van Manen.
