So I'm personally fine with that. If so, does it matter if you take multiple pictures or is the first one the only one that matters. Smeargle's spawn rate is currently a debated question as a few things are unclear: I tried several different strategies (1 picture, 10 pictures, and hundreds per session) to see if I could notice a trend. This means you are very unlikely to spawn a high IV Smeargle. Many people have gotten him on the second photo in a session. Candy to add a second charge move seems to be 9999999 (probably to lock out this ability until they figure out what to do about it). Smeargle will only remain spawned for an hour unlike Research Pokémon. It is vulnerable to Fighting moves.
No one yet has reported catching more than one. Smeargle was introduced along with the addition of the AR Photo mode in February, 2019. One person in this thread said they caught a wild lucky Smeargle - this is a graphical glitch that goes away when you reload the game.
Select a Pokémon you wish to take an AR Photo of, Use your phone's camera and pan around over a flat location, You'll begin to see sparkles as your device starts to identify a flat spot where you can spawn a Pokémon. I caught mine with bullet punch and meteor mash from my Metagross.
Does Smeargle only appear in the first picture slot? Edit: Using fast TM seems to randomly select a fast move. However, given that Smeargle is a very weak Pokémon with a max combat power of about 400 at level 40, there isn't really any combination of moves that make it worth the effort. Availability.
When it comes to the person reporting a wild lucky; My Smeargle also had the "lucky pokemon" stamp after I used a lucky pokemon to take pictures off, but as soon as I reloaded my game the Smeargle was just normal. Or should I say close to 1%?
Not a clue.
Unlikely, but I have to wonder. the first just before midnight and the second just after.
He will wait for you at photo point!
Smeargle photobombing your picture counts as a separate "sighting" in the Pokedex than encountering him. If you restrict Pokemon Go's access to your photos, it will still allow you to Smeargle hunt without saving every photo and taking up space on your phone.
Reddit's #1 spot for Pokémon GO™ discoveries and research. Smeargle is simply a neat addition to Pokémon GO, and really does not serve much of a purpose other than that.
Smeargle cannot learn Transform, and cannot have a third move, even if he copies a three-move Pokemon.
It bombed my Shiny Mammoswine and is normal. I got my first one within 20 photos and I'm about 900+ in and haven't seen him again... New comments cannot be posted and votes cannot be cast, More posts from the TheSilphRoad community. More data needed to confirm. The mechanics are interesting and I hope Niantic continues to release special Pokémon in unique ways such as this.
In Pokémon GO könnt ihr jetzt Farbeagle bekommen!
I was unable to get a second one shortly after midnight, but I got mine in the afternoon, so it could be true.
Smeargle can learn any moveset in Pokémon GO.
It is likely best to take 1–10 pictures, check for Smeargle, and repeat. It's also unique in that it can copy and learn almost any move in various Pokémon games.
When Smeargle appears in your picture, the bottom right icon will "pulse" 3 times as opposed to one. I think his moveset matches the moveset of whatever Pokemon you were taking pictures of when he appeared.
Pokémon #235 has long been missing from Pokémon Go, but Smeargle has finally been added to the game, alongside the new AR camera feature, Go Snapshot. I tried a few more times and only got the one.
Smeargle is an unobtainable Normal Pokémon.
Can anyone support this? When Smeargle appears in your picture, the bottom right icon will "pulse" 3 times as opposed to one. It seems to work fine both ways, some people are just having bad RNG. The Silph Road is a grassroots network of trainers whose communities span the globe and hosts resources to help trainers learn about the game, find communities, and hold in-person PvP tournaments! I have seen people theorizing that he's only out on Android right now.
I'm beginning to have a suspicion that we can only encounter him once per day. Smeargle was released with the release of GO Snapshot on February 25 th, 2019.; Smeargle may appear in photos taken using the GO Snapshot feature and will attempt to copy the moves of the Pokémon that was the subject of the photo. It will simply copy the moves of the Pokémon you took a photo of when it photobombed. About "Smeargle marks the boundaries of its territory using a body fluid that leaks out from the tip of its tail. However, catching Smeargle adds a new medal called "Cameraman" that strongly implies the ability to catch more than one (but also implies that the only way to get a Smeargle to spawn at all is to be taking pictures and get photobombed.)
Please tell me if you can disprove this. You do not have to be in AR+ to get him to spawn. The distribution seems to be relatively low. Possibly true that if he's going to appear, he'll appear on the first picture. In order to get Smeargle, you'll need to use the Camera to enable AR Photo mode. I went home and saw that he should have spawned.
I just snapped 200 pics and not one was photo-bombed. Community Day moves cannot CAN be copied, but sometimes they'll be replaced with something random. Although given you cannot view any pictures you take past the first 10, and after taking hundreds in a single session, I can tell you that it is likely not useful. Press question mark to learn the rest of the keyboard shortcuts, lvl 39 - Wonderdex Gens 1, 2, and 3 complete! (basically).
So I'm personally fine with that.
Furthermore, you can use Fast and Charge TMs on Smeargle to teach it a ton of various moves. After he photobombs your picture, exit to the map and he'll spawn. Also it can copy community day moves as mine has Ancient Power. It doesn't mimic a Shiny pokemom to become a Shiny at least. Smeargle is simply a neat addition to Pokémon GO, and really does not serve much of a purpose other than that. The spawn is a normal wild encounter spawn, with a standard variance in levels and individual values. It is completely useless for combat, but if it weren't, it's ability to copy movesets would probably make the meta way worse. This is based only on my experience, so I'd like confirmation from anyone else, but I was taking pics of a Rock Smash/Dark Pulse Mew and he has that exact same moveset which seems weird for a Smeargle to have otherwise. I was curious to know what’s Smeargle’s rate, in our case how many photos and what’s the maximum number of photos that a player took before getting photobombed. I took a photo that he photobombed and emailed it to my son. Smeargle can photobomb Smeargle, and he'll copy the same moves it has. Have I missed anything or is any of this inaccurate? Using a TM seems to give a completely random move.
Smeargle can flee, so use your best stuff when catching him. It can also flee so be careful when catching it, You can only spawn a maximum of one per day.
Tap the Pokémon to get it to face you again), When you are done, tap the icon in the top left (it looks like an arrow and a door) to leave the session, You will be presented with all the photos you took, If you see a Smeargle photobomb your picture, a Smeargle will then spawn right next to you.
