I use the softer side for oil makeup remover and the exfoliating side for toner! It helps a lot with taking my mascara off more gentle although mascara can still be tough to get rid of. I then wash them by hand with a neutral soap or my brush soap and then I really got them clean. You just wash it before you use it first and after that you're set. They are an awesome go to, but I will say that sometimes they will flake and leave behind some pieces of cotton. Just add water to makeup remover pad, no cleanser needed. If you've been doing lawn work or road dust is on you. I do love the exfoliating side of these.
